ANCESTRY ANTHOLOGY PREVIEW #4: NOTEWORTHY NEWS ARTICLE #1: PROVINCE OF TEXAS (1830), PART 2

GOOD MORNING, FAMILY AND FRIENDS!!!

Vicente Ramón Guerrero Saldaña (Spanish: [biˈsente raˈmoŋ ɡeˈreɾo salˈdaɲa]; August 10, 1782 – February 14, 1831) was one of the leading revolutionary generals of the Mexican War of Independence. He fought against Spain for independence in the early 19th century, and later served as President of Mexico, coming to power in a coup. He was of Afro-Mestizodescent,[1] championed the cause of Mexico's common people, and abolished slavery during his brief term as president.[2] His execution in 1831 by the conservative government that ousted him in 1829 was a shock to the nation.[3]

ONE OF THE PEOPLE REFERRED TO IN "PROVINCE OF TEXAS" WAS "MEXICAN PRESIDENT VICENTE GUERRERO" -
A LEADING REVOLUTIONARY GENERAL OF AFRO-MESTIZO (1/2 AFRICAN, 1/2 MEXICAN) DESCENT,   PRESIDENT GUERRERRO WAS A FORMER MEXICAN GENERAL, WHO PLAYED A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN, NOT JUST MEXICAN HISTORY, BUT, ALSO IN THE LIFE AND HISTORY OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN SLAVES; AND, FREE BLACKS, WHO LIVED IN TEXAS!!

IN MY OPINION, PRESIDENT VICENTE GUERRERO SHOULD BE A NAME EVERY "AFRICAN-AMERICAN AND/OR BLACK AMERICAN SHOULD KNOW....WHY?....BECAUSE HE FREED SLAVES LIVING IN MEXICO AND ITS POSSESSIONS; OBVIOUSLY, HE DID IT OVER 100 YEARS BEFORE IT WAS ENDED IN THE UNITED STATES...HE DID IT DURING HIS TENSURE, HE ENDED SLAVERY IN MEXICO!!

**************************************************************

THERE ARE OTHER ARTICLES ON THIS PAGE ABOUT TEXAS AND/OR MEXICAN HISTORY; INCLUDING ONE ABOUT LAWS REPEALED BY PRESIDENT VICENTE GUERRRERO!!

BELOW IS A PREVIEW OF SOME OF THE ENDLESS, HISTORICAL PEOPLE, PLACES, AND STORIES

I WILL INCLUDE IN M
Y ANTHOLOGY!!!

LAST, BUT, NOT LEAST, I BECAME EVEN MORE INTERESTED IN THE HISTORY OF STEPHEN F. AUSTIN, THE FATHER OF TEXAS, AND THE ORIGINAL 300 FAMILIES BECAUSE ONE OF THOSE FAMILIES....THE ISAAC BEST FAMILY.... HAS BEEN CONNECTED TO MY FAMILY ON ANCESTRY.COM!!

AT FIRST, I EASILY FOUND SOME RECORDS ON ISAAC, HIS WIFE, AND CHILDREN....HOWEVER, I GOT CAUGHT UP IN ALL THE HISTORY WHEN I FOUND RECORDS ON HIS PARENTS....AND, I AM STILL FINDING RECORDS GOING BACK FURTHER IN HISTORY....SO, I HESITATED TO INCLUDE HIM IN MY JOURNAL UNTIL I FOUND HIS ROOTS IN EUROPE; OR ON ANOTHER CONTINENT...I ESPECIALLY WANTED TO WAIT UNTIL I FOUND AT LEAST ONE PICTURE OF HIM OR ANY MEMBER OF HIS FAMILY... BUT, I DECIDED TO INCLUDE A LITTLE INFORMATION  BELOW IN THIS PREVIEW...

The name, "Old Three Hundred" refers to the settlers who received land grants in Stephen F. Austin's first colony in Texas. Stephen F. Austin took up his father's colonization activities and traveled to San Antonio, where he met with the Spanish governor Antonio María Martínez. The governor acknowledged Stephen F. Austin as his father's successor allowing the colonization activities to proceed.

Stephen F. Austin recruited some hardy pioneers willing to move to Texas
and by the end of the summer of 1824, most of the
Old Three Hundred were in Texas.
